I sometimes dream of waking to a completely dark world, a world with no sunlight and minimal artificial light. My vision is blurred, but there is nothing to see. The streets are virtually empty, and my friends and family are lifeless; sitting, standing or even walking, but with nothing to do or say, and nowhere to go. No questions are asked because there is nothing to learn, nothing is discussed because nothing is interesting. And it is this dismal reality I am faced with, only partially aware that there is anything better. The existence I dream of is somewhat reminiscent of the world of... more

I can easily say tat Eraserhead is one of the most fascinating science fiction movies ever made and certainly the most obtrusively bizarre. David Lynch gives a future to us that no one in their right mind would want to live in, being a warped 50s vision of a nuclear holocaust. It's just a film experience like no other. I can't really compare it to any other movie because it's just so unique. Even calling it a science fiction movie feels wrong at times because it really contains all different kinds of genres. Jack Nance is priceless, he gives the movie such an earnest personality that is... more

Male paranoia can be a bit of a nightmare at times. Lynch's visual realisation of his own version of male paranoia through this surreal journey is cinema at its best. Only Lynch could make such a colourful film as this in black and white! more

"Well, this movie sure is exciting." "It gets pretty exciting if you watch it and pay attention." "I AM watching. He just took off his sock and put it on the radiator." "Shut up and watch the movie." "Somebody should breastfeed that thing. Cause the spoon just isn't working" "I ain't lettin' that thing anywhere near my titties." The seamless, realistic special effects and transitions are what I liked best about this movie. And the infamous scene with the Cornish hens. Of course, overall, I didn't find the movie particularly funny or disturbing. Maybe I'm just different. more

I could try to tell you what Eraserhead is about but why bother. That's for you to decide. It's different things to different people. To me, it's a sick, twisted, nightmarish love story. Let's get beyond what one person thinks because it doesn't matter. You will see something that no one has seen before when you watch. Technically speaking Eraserhead is a great piece of film making. The use of light and shadow throughout the film kept reminding me of Citizen Kane. Yes, I'm comparing Eraserhead to Citizen Kane and there is no stretch to doing that. Both films are achievements in... more

Henry Spencer: So I just, uh... I just cut them up like regular chickens? Mr. X: Sure, just cut them up like regular chickens. Ok, I am not a big David Lynch fan. This movie does not add to that. It's a movie that I'm not gonna give a good rating because I didn't like it, but that doesn't mean its not worth seeing. This is very much a film that you either can enjoy or just not get at all. I can see the appeal, but I fall in the later category. This is easily one of the strangest movies I have ever scene. It is described as a surrealist horror picture made up of, as David Lynch himself... more
