St. Petersburg Times Steve Persall
The funniest comedy of degeneracy since "Bad Santa," and a career-changer for Aniston and Farrell if they'll only keep following their perverted muses. Horrible Bosses spins hostile work environments into a movie surpassing "9 to 5" and "Office Space" as the touchstone flick for disenchanted drones. more
Entertainment Weekly Lisa Schwarzbaum
A bouncy, well-built, delightfully nasty tale of resentment, desperation, and amoral revenge that does for employer-employee relations what Danny DeVito and Bette Midler did for the bonds of matrimony in the great 1986 Zucker brothers comedy "Ruthless People." more

Funny and dirty in about that order. more

Markowitz, Daley and Goldstein sounds like a New York firm that delivers financial advice, but they're asking you to invest only $9 of your cash and 100 minutes of your time. They have written the funniest movie I've seen this year in Horrible Bosses. more

For something like Horrible Bosses to sparkle, the actors have to shine... and shine they do. more
New Orleans Times-Picayune Mike Scott
Gets considerable gas from the fact that Bateman, Sudeikis and Day so convincingly play three idiotic pals. The real fun, though, is in the fantastic supporting cast. more

What's right about Horrible Bosses is less easy to identify, but it comes down to something like esprit de corps. The three principal actors click. The looseness of the structure actually proves a benefit, allowing Bateman, Sudeikis and Day, all trained on television comedy, to bounce off each other, talk over each other and apparently pull lines out of the air. more
USA Today Scott Bowles
It's over-the-top stuff, to be sure. But Bosses never crosses that line into the macabre. more
Portland Oregonian M. E. Russell
The movie is strongest when it stays with Bateman and Spacey, who play greatest-hits remixes of their best-loved performances. more

In the film's funniest scene, a coked-up Day rocks out to The Ting Tings' "That's Not My Name" in a car in a state of ecstatic frenzy. more

An outragious comic masterpiece. A wickedly hilarious movie from start to finish. The laughs are just flat-out wild and fresh and keep you going. One of the smartest, funniest and most hysterical comedies i have seen in years. It`s pure comic genious with a gifted all-star cast that all deliver hilarious performances. Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis are just a great team, they have wonderful chemistry and brilliant comic timing. Jennifer Aniston is sexy and fun. Kevin Spacey is brilliant. Colin Farrell is outragiously awesome, he`s just too funny. Jamie Foxx is teriffic, he`s... more

Pretty hilarious. Jason Bateman plays his "Arrested Development" straight-man to great effect, "I don't have sleeve gloves." Charlie Day is endearingly naive. Jamie Foxx as Motherfucker Jones is appropriately gangsta at first, then doggedly abashed later with the whole Snow Falling On Cedars thing. God I love that Ethan Hawke movie. Anyway, Jennifer Aniston could have been a little...sexier? I dunno, the role kinda called for her to play sexy/crazy for comedy, but I wanted to see her channel Angelina Jolie a bit (blasphemy I know). more

"I'd like to bend her over a barrel and show her the fifty states." I was in New York for two weeks for the second time now. I had some goals for the trip, like buying some comics, eating a genuine NY hot dog, a pizza slice, walking thru the Park etc. One of the main goals was to see a movie in the theatres, cuz I wanted to compare the differences between Finnish and American moviegoers. On a hot day, we ended to go to the theatre near Bloomingdales. 'Horrible Bosses' was our pick and that was a choice I'll never regret. Everyone of us has had our frustrations with our bosses. I can tell... more

This review is for the two subgroups: 1. Those who have seen this and are afraid of giving it a decent rating because that would be some strange admittance, 2. Those tired of watching shitty comedies that promise belly laughs in the trailer but are cheap and tacky. Horrible Bosses has a very detestable and lame premise that would make anyone cringe: three friends murder each other's bosses, because they are horrible. It's usually an invitation to bad follow through, but a theater goer will be surprised by the competence of this film. Heading the cast as the put upon employees are three of... more

I'd like to say that I enjoyed Horrible Bosses at least on some level, but I really didn't. This is just a really lame attempt at making an edgy comedy. The whole idea is just poorly executed and just doesn't know how to handle the material. It never actually gets serious like it theoretically should've gotten, considering the fact that it's about three people trying to kill their bosses. The overuse of comedy never allows you to understand or care about any of these characters. Most people whine about there being zero character development in action movies or "summer movies", but this... more

Lots of big laughs in this film, and over time, I think it will become a staple in dude-comedy DVD collections. Updating Office Space by way of the fratpack, comedic newcomers Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day prove capable foils to the ever-present straight man Jason Bateman plays. The bosses are indeed horrible, be they the evil Kevin Spacey, the hedonistic Colin Farrell or Jennifer Aniston and her crazy, crazy eyes. The film has a few less-than-believable events, but the plot is good enough to mix caper and comedy, and it's good for a laugh. I can see myself watching it a few more times. more
