The central premise behind the performance of this Inception is so, so stupid. "I will break up my father's empire?" Whaaat? As always, I think Christopher Nolan is great at creating whole worlds and it would fascinating to live inside of his mind (or, enter his dreams, Inception-style), but when it comes to actual story, the plot holes are huge! There's a bit of an emotional disconnect for me, of course not severe enough to keep from totally enjoying myself in the theater. more

I thought, like many, that Inception was a great film, essentially an action film with brains. It's not all about the special effects either which I was relieved about, nor was it as hard to understand as many had made out. Also, stop the press, I actually enjoyed Leonardo DiCaprio's performance for once! Sign of a good director me thinks, the casting is really good though. Christopher Nolan proves once again he is a highly imaginative genius, delivering a meticulously elaborated plot that perfectly balances sheer intelligence and top-notch entertainment. A film that boasts a stellar ensemble cast, with a good deal of great actors playing some finely constructed characters. The production design is sublime, as well as the unbelievably fantastic editing and Hans Zimmer's always intense score. While I did enjoy the movie, I feel that at times that the filmmakers overcomplicated thinks just to cause confusion; e.g. water cooler talking points. There was a lot of hype surrounding this movie, and to me it wasn't the mind-blowing masterpiece that some people seemed to think. On the surface Inception seems to be a crime caper, complete with master of disguise Eames (Tom Hardy), planner Aridane (Ellen Page), point man Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), and master thief Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio).
