Chicago Sun-Times Roger Ebert
Stone and his editors, Joe Hutshing and Pietro Scalia, have somehow triumphed over the tumult of material here and made it work - made it grip and disturb us. more
San Francisco Chronicle Peter Stack
Director Oliver Stone has fashioned in JFK a riveting, dramatic and disturbing look at one of the great whodunits of history.
Entertainment Weekly Owen Gleiberman
filmmaking is so supple and alive, his obsession with the visual aspect of history so electrifying, that JFK practically roots itself in your imagination. more
Time Richard Corliss
Through his art and passion, Stone makes JFK plausible, and turns his thesis of a coup d'etat into fodder for renewed debate. more
Washington Post Rita Kempley
JFK is Stone's best and most emotional film since "Platoon." more
TV Guide Staff (Not Credited)
Director and co-screenwriter Oliver Stone pulls off an amazing filmmaking feat with JFK, transforming the dry minutiae of every John F. Kennedy assassination conspiracy theory of the past three decades into riveting screen material. more
Christian Science Monitor David Sterritt
Controversy and all, JFK is one of the year's most powerful and provocative films. more
Empire Torene Svitil

The only real problem with making a film about JFK's assassination and the conspiracies involved is that there isn't a conclusion. Everything learnt in this film has at some point since its release been denied as fiction, or has no evidence. So as interesting as it was, and as brilliant the all star cast were, I just couldn't enjoy this film as much as I?d hoped. more

Thrilling docudrama about a very sketchy assassination. While some points are overdramaticized, I'm now really curious about the physics of the whole thing. It just doesn't make sense that there was one gunman, let alone Oswald from the book depository. I also enjoyed the unapologetic call to question one's government with critical doubt and earnest curiousity. That's what it's there for. more

I bought the director's cut about a month ago and since then, I was afraid to dive into it for 205 minutes - the longest movie I've seen to date. When I started it, I just could not believe that, actually, this movie was that long. It was so greatly made, so entertaining that I didn't see the time pass at all ! Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Oldman's performances were great, but what impressed me the most is Oliver Stone's directing who, for me, would have deserved every awards on earth ! WHAT A GREAT PIECE OF WORK ! The story Stone's JFK tells shocked me like no movie shocked me in a long time.... more

I've often heard people give Oliver Stone shit and it constantly puzzles me. I'm definitely not big on all his work, but he has made at least a couple great films: Natural Born Killers and this one, JFK, which I finally watched, This is the quintessential film about the Kennedy assassination, detailing a case brought by the District Attorney of New Orleans, Jim Garrison, beginning three years after the actual assassination. I don't think conspiracy films get much better than this. First of all, the cast is exceptional. Kevin Costner reminds me why I love him so much (and also hate when... more

Jim Garrison: The FBI says they can prove it through physics in a nuclear laboratory. Of course they can prove it. Theoretical physics can also prove that an elephant can hang off a cliff with its tail tied to a daisy! But use your eyes, your common sense. An epic investigation movie about details, evidence, witnesses and conspiracy concerning the circumstances surrounding John F. Kennedy's assasination. Oliver Stone directs a huge 3 hour plus movie with a huge cast, including: Kevin Costner, Gary Oldman, Sissy Spacek, J. O. Sanders, Michael Rooker, Joe Pesci, Tommy Lee Jones, Jack Lemmon,... more
