The script by Ed Solomon is tight, well-paced and lighthearted. If this were a musical, Fred Astaire could have played the Jones role, although somewhat more dashingly. more

Sonnenfeld moves things along with alacrity and panache, serving up the exotic visuals quietly, blending in the sprightly humour efficiently, and keeping the mix at a rolling boil. more

Behind its mask of deadpan goofiness, it's a friendly, clever picture, one that doesn't feel untouched by human hands. And at an hour-and-a-half, it doesn't wear out its welcome. more

Sonnenfeld deftly orchestrates the intricate two-part harmony, and Smith and Jones -- a powerhouse comic pair -- make it all look easy. more

The super popular action sci-fi comedy of 97. Sure it was fun for a while, but this movie wasn't all that great really. It's humor is stupid, and there are so many other sci-fi comedies that are better. Overall it's an okay movie, though. more

The definition of weird 90s movies. This, however, embraced that idea and made for a great experience. The comedy is so well done and perfectly layered that you don't feel beaten to death. It also remains as one of the last buddy cop movies, which is really sad to see go away. This tackled the issue of Aliens in such an odd and unique fashion, but in a way that could be related to our world. I really love the Twilight Zone vibe it has with the agency and overly mysterious characters/sub-plots. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are a great team and had some great chemistry together. Few movies take me back to my childhood like Men in Black does. I used to absolutely love this movie, and I basically had every word of dialogue memorized, at one point. It's still mostly as fun and funny as I remember, from when I first went to the movies to see it in the late 90's. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones really make a great on-screen team. They play off each other flawlessly, and I couldn't picture any other actors playing the roles of J and K. I loved this movie when it came out and when Will Smith was just about the coolest guy ever. It's not the movie's fault, and Will's still pretty cool - personally and sartorially - but MIB's cool kinda wears off with subsequent viewings. more
