Chicago Sun-Times Roger Ebert
This film is such a virtuoso high-wire act, daring so much, achieving it with such grace and skill. Minority Report reminds us why we go to the movies in the first place. more
New York Post Lou Lumenick
A heart-pounding experience that makes you think and contains a gallery of characters that will haunt your nightmares for years to come. more
San Francisco Chronicle Mick LaSalle
This is the kind of pure entertainment that, in its fullness and generosity, feels almost classic. more
USA Today Mike Clark
Stripped of all bravado, Cruise delivers a raw and probably detractor-proof performance. Spielberg does what he did right in creating a novel milieu for "A.I. Artificial Intelligence," but this time the writing is fresher and anything but unwieldy. more
ReelViews James Berardinelli
It affirms that, even in the 2000s, movies do not have to be brain-dead to be exciting. When the season is over, Minority Report will more than likely stand out as the best picture to grace multiplex screens during the Summer of 2002. more
Chicago Tribune Michael Wilmington
May show both director and star working at their professional peaks, but I don't think it's as good as that underappreciated masterwork "A.I." It's not as resonant and daring, not as full of magic and marvel. Spielberg stretches himself technically here but not emotionally. more
Seattle Post-Intelligencer William Arnold
A happy surprise: a timely antidote to the comic-book mindlessness of "Spider-Man" and repetitive space fantasy of "Star Wars," and an encouraging bid from the top of the A-list to once again reach very high and spit in the face of the gutless formula filmmaking that rules Hollywood. more
Film Threat Clint Morris
Where Minority Report succeeds is by dishing up a little bit of everything to see no one leaves the theater disgruntled. There are helpings of science fiction marvel, theres some interminable tension and a real human story underneath it all. The specials effects are damn impressive to boot. more
Salon.com Andrew O'Hehir
It's a dark and dazzling spectacle. more
L.A. Weekly Ella Taylor
Terrifically entertaining specimen of Spielbergian sci-fi, incomparably better than "A.I." and as dark a movie as the director has made since "Schindler's List." more

I'm pretty sure that this is my favorite of the two collaborations between Cruise/Spielberg. It has everything an action movie should have, everything good sci-fi should have and everything a great drama should have. The look of the movie is probably its most obvious standout element, but the story behind it is as equally strong and warranting of such a stylized shooting style. Tom Cruise delivers one of his many flawless performances; this might be his most wounded character to date. Even though the central conflict is enough to have your attention, the concept of Pre-Crime is cool enough... more

03/01/2011 (TELEVISION) A very cool film! I saw this when I was younger and couldn't fully understand it, but seeing it now is like wow, that was an awesome movie. It's really complicated and sophisticated in ideas but the way it was simplified so that the average mind could grasp was well told indeed, I really get it now. A nice blend of suspense and a perfect choice for a sci-fi hit. The ideas for what it could look like in 2040 or something just looked believable and made sense. There was just so many cool things in this flick and I enjoyed sitting through this one. When the twists... more

"But it didn't fall. You caught it. The fact that you prevented it from happening doesnt change the fact that it was *going* to happen." This blockbuster collaberation between Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg just happens to be one of my favorite sci-fi movies, one of my favorite Tom Cruise movies, and one of my favorite Spielberg movies. It's a gritty, exciting thrill ride that excels in special effects and action, but doesn't solely rely on those two elements. In a near-future world where a few select people have the ability to see murders before they happen, three of these "precogs" have... more

Steven Spielberg's spectacular view on the not too distant future is as pessimistic as realistic, especially the mix of old architecture with new high tech seems plausible. The story raises interesting questions of morale and has quite a few twists to offer. It's Sci-Fi, cop thriller, dystopia and all of it convincingly so. Of course the action is breathtaking and the pacing excellent, you can expect no less from Spielberg. Some scenes are a bit more sickening than necessary, but the overall experience is extremely satisfying and entertaining. The acting is top notch too, Colin Farrell and... more

Spielberg's disturbingly obvious aesthetic choices turn an intelligent, expansive premise into galvanizing and easy entertainment. But entertainment it is; even if the obvious swells of dramatic music and abuse of the blue camera filter pull you out of the film, the fantastic action sequences and set pieces will. How do I feel about Tom Cruise? Not positively. Not in the slightest. I've never been a big fan of his acting and his external persona has since infiltrated his film presence. Big trouble for Mr. Xenu. Anyway, I never found him convincing here as much of anything, much less a... more

"There hasn't been a murder in six years. The system, it is perfect." "Minority Report" is an ultra stylish sci-fi movie. Based on Philip K. Dick's story, the film takes you to a near future. A future that doesn't seem so unrealistic. If you think on how fast technology has developed in the last 50 years, things could easily be something close to Spielberg's vision... Tom Cruise plays the head of Pre-Crime, a section that solves murders before they've even happened. Sounds far-fetched? Well, it works quite good actually. The story might seem complicated at times but it still is one of the... more
