San Francisco Chronicle Mick LaSalle
It is an exhilaration from beginning to end. It's the movie equivalent of that rare sort of novel where you find yourself checking to see how many pages are left and hoping there are more, not fewer. more
The Globe and Mail (Toronto) Rick Groen
Pulp Fiction is at least three movies rolled into one, and they're all scintillating. more
Chicago Sun-Times Roger Ebert
Like "Citizen Kane," Pulp Fiction is constructed in such a nonlinear way that you could see it a dozen times and not be able to remember what comes next. more
Chicago Tribune Michael Wilmington
Pulp Fiction isn't just funny. It's outrageously funny.
ReelViews James Berardinelli
With this film, every layer that you peel away leads to something deeper and richer. Tarantino makes pictures for movie-lovers, and Pulp Fiction is a near-masterpiece. more
Film Threat Brad Laidman
The first masterwork of the post-modern pop culture generation...gets better with every viewing, and like good rock n' roll, needs to be played loud! more
Empire Philip Thomas
A scintillating piece of filmmaking, the kind of movie you look forward to seeing again even as you're watching it, and an extraordinary response to both the Dogs-Is-Overrated brigade and the He'll-Never-Top-His-Debut sceptics. more
Austin Chronicle Marjorie Baumgarten
Very satisfying. Classic storytelling, modern techniques. And the images: This movie has embedded so many strange and new mental pictures in my head that I'm not able to shake free. Yet, neither would I want to be free. more

ability to take what seem like minor conversational themes and dovetail them onto later exchanges for maximum comic effect is close to genius. And the action can be literally heart-stopping. more
Rolling Stone Staff (Not Credited)
The new King Kong of crime movies...Ferocious fun without a trace of caution, complacency or political correctness to inhibit its 154 deliciously lurid minutes. more

Fully expecting this to be the best movie ever did not put a detriment to my viewing pleasure. Riddled with the best quotations ever from the silver screen, Tarantino does a phenomenal job with his fortunate soundtrack, unbridled violence so realistic and climactic, and the stellar performances of Travolta, Jackson, Willis, Roth and Plummer, Thurman, and Rhames. Someone could ask, "What happens in this film?" and you'd have to take a second and really answer; there is a dissimilar plot and raucous roll around from one event in the timeline to the next. The film's process is not chaotic,... more

Tarantino's masterpiece about LA gangster bosses, their hit men, the boxers they pay to lose, their wives and all the people they meet in the course of a couple of days. Not only are the dialogs among the best ever written for a film, they are also perfectly delivered by a cast to dream of. Especially Samuel L. Jackson is almost frighteningly convincing as killer who rethinks his life. How the episodic parts of the story are intertwined is pure genius, the groovy and memorable soundtrack just adds up to the all around perfect and deeply entertaining experience. A movie that can we watched... more

It's a completely over-rated film, but it is a fun experience. I feel that the non-linear storytelling was done better in Reservoir Dogs, this just seemed to be doing it for the sake of confusion. Some of the characters are quite interesting, while some are incredibly flat and one noted. There were some great performances from Bruce Willis and Uma Thurman, but others were so-so. The film-making was weaker in this than from Reservoir Dogs, which was such a well composed movie. It is a necessary part of Tarantino's work and I can see it's mass appeal. more

The quintessential Tarantino film. If you like Pulp Fiction, you'll enjoy any of his work. If not, you really shouldn't waste your time with any of his other films. Put me firmly into the "fan" column. Pulp Fiction greatly rewards repeated viewings, the amount of foreshadowing is just ridiculous. The movie never seems dull, despite its 2 1/2 hour length, and is full of endless amounts of homages and in-jokes that you will never notice unless you watch the trivia track. The entire expansive cast is perfect, I couldn't imagine anyone else taking even the smallest of the roles. Uma Thurman,... more

I've said it before but Quentin Tarantino is a thief. That said this is a very enjoyable swag bag and there is no mistaking his enthusiasm, energy and most importantly, his influence. He got a lot of people to pick up a camera with his impact in the early 90's which has done cinema a lot of good. I hate the script though, something he's always congratulated on but I can't understand. It's too inane to be cool, I enjoy the realism (His characters go to the bathroom, whoo hoo!) but his scripts are just awful. And so the love hate relationship continues.. more

A much overrated flick if you ask me, at its time of release it was very unique in style and ideas, it made Tarantino a HUGE star and had an amazing cast but its actually very dull with not much of interest going on anywhere. Sure the dialog is very hot at times and does show Tarantino's writing skill but its nonsense half the time and just goes on for too long. The rough cutting of the plot and editing is another new thing that took the film world by surprise, now copied by everyone of course but at the time it was a wow factor that enhanced the films reputation. Myself I didnt like the... more

Not bad for me but not excellent... I think Quentin Tarantino is a director with a specific taste.
