The Hollywood Reporter Kirk Honeycutt
The film comes down to a mesmerizing portrait of a man who in any other age would perhaps be deemed nuts or useless, but in the Internet age has this mental agility to transform an idea into an empire. more
NPR Bob Mondello
Terrific entertainment - an unlikely thriller that makes business ethics, class distinctions and intellectual-property arguments sexy, that zips through two hours quicker than you can say "relationship status," and that'll likely fascinate pretty much anyone not named Zuckerberg. more
Chicago Sun-Times Roger Ebert
David Fincher's film has the rare quality of being not only as smart as its brilliant hero, but in the same way. It is cocksure, impatient, cold, exciting and instinctively perceptive. more
Miami Herald Rene Rodriguez
Delivers the heady, rib-tickling rush of an action picture, and it gradually builds to an emotional wallop that blindsides you. more
New York Post Lou Lumenick
Quite possibly the first truly great fact-based movie of the 21st century. more
Philadelphia Inquirer Carrie Rickey
Most of all, it is the improbably entertaining story of how new media are altering the very nature of courtship and friendship. more
San Francisco Chronicle Mick LaSalle
But make no mistake, whether the movie is fair or horribly unfair - I know nothing of the actual facts and can't make that determination - its portrait of Zuckerberg is a hatchet job of epic and perhaps lasting proportions. more
USA Today Claudia Puig
The film owes much of its success to the inspired pairing of Fincher and Sorkin. more
Washington Post Ann Hornaday
The Social Network has understandably been compared to "Citizen Kane" in its depiction of a man who changes society through bending an emergent technology to his will. more
Boston Globe Ty Burr
On the level of craft, the movie's just absurdly enjoyable. Sorkin's dialogue dazzles; the photography is burnished and sleek; the editing confidently sorts out a complex narrative. more

It felt long, but it was interesting and good. Jesse Eisenberg didn't show much emotion as the super intelligent geek Facebook programmer Zuckerberg; I didn't connect with his character or think it was worth an Oscar nomination. The two lawsuits were a bit confusing and tedious at first, but went into flashback mode often enough to keep things moving. The scenes were dark and slightly artistically tinted, as many movies are these days, so everyday scenes appeared like something out of The Matrix. I was enraged, as the best friend Eduardo (Andrew Garfield) would've been, when things... more

I liked it, I really liked it at a real life story adaptation and also a movie to sit down to watch with friends. Its hardly going to be an epic movie but it is actually really good and the vibe and buzz which I got from people about this movie before watching it, was true. more

It is hard to like a film about a concept that I despise. I have a facebook page but I hate the fact that I have one and I hate the fact that I rely on it so much when what I really want to do is delete it and to stop wasting my time on it. It is also hard to like a film that is essentially about successful but obnoxious college kids. I hate computer generally. The dialogue was so fast I kept checking to see if I hadn't pressed the fast forward by mistake. Horrible, horrible people. It makes me sad that these people are revered and are seen as modern day pioneers. Sean Parker may think he... more

This is a modern masterpiece, a film that succeeds in portraying a whole generation with a flawless screenplay and a pitch-perfect direction from visionary David Fincher. It should have won Best Picture and Best Director and this will go down as one of the biggest crimes the Academy commited. more

I wonder if Harvard has written a thank-you letter to this group for making their students and administrators look like a bunch of, as the BU woman says, a-holes? Man, what a sucking bunch of human beings all the way around. I tell you, though, the one who should have been nominated for an award is Andrew Garfield. This kid has some real acting potential. I know this one is well-liked -- a true darling of the critics. Little did I know that I'd be in a such a tiny (4%) minority so soon once again after my disappointment with Animal Kingdom . One of the things I dislike about this movie... more

The acting in this film is very good, I don't know who all the actors are in the film I admit but they all do very well and bring the plot home, I had no idea how complicated and deep the story behind a simple internet friends site could go. The site in question I find average at best to be honest, completely pointless frankly but anyways....this film is made well and performed well. The problem is I just couldn't care a less about any of the people involved, the story behind Facebook and what happened to get it online etc...I found the whole thing so so very boring and uninteresting from... more
